I am joining Kubermatic
After only 13 months at radio.de I will be joining Kubermatic in August 2021. Long story short without going into details there was too much of a (engineering-)culture gap between radio.de and me. I am now looking forward to become an active contributor in the “Cloud Native” world, working on open-source projects around Kubernetes. In my previous role at finleap connect I had only “consumed” Kubernetes as an engineer running software on it and during on-call duties, including monitoring and basic maintenance....
100 Days to Offload
While searching for some solution I came around some blog post tagged with #100DaysToOffload and got curious what that meant. So I found this site 100daystooffload.com and now I wonder, if I actually have enough topics to get out 100 blog entries over a year. I actually have quite a backlog of topics, but something kept me from just writing about them. Probably because some of them are just too big to fit into a tweet....
Looking back at 2020
2020 has been a challenging year in many ways and I don’t want to reiterate the whole Corona thing, but it surely had some impact on my initial plan for that year: 2020 Career Goals Pass my CKA exam Get more comfortable writing go Reiterate my future career plan Start and keep blogging Because I left my former employer I stopped pursuing the CKA. On the parental leave I was busy parenting and after that my focus at work switched to the AWS Cloud....
A simple data pipeline (python, pandas, luigi)
When looking for my current job, I started looking by replying to tech recruiters offering me the 5th weekly Java, PHP or Node.js position. I replied with what I was actually looking for in a new position and somehow some of them suddenly had roles up their sleeves. If they would have read my “very interesting profile and experience” in the first place, we both could have saved some time here....
initial commitment
I wanted to start this blog quite some time ago, I think at least 5 years ago. What kept me from actually doing it might have been a combination of procrastination and imposter syndrome. To tackle the procrastination I am defining goals for 2020. To keep the chances of achieving these goals realistic I try to keep the list quite small and will divide each goal into sub-goals and will schedule a monthly check on how the progress on these goals is....
